Some people love them, others hate them, a few can't be bothered to care either way, but most are found somewhere in between the extremes on the scale. Personally, I share my life with two dogs of the breed American Akita, Birk (born 2010) and Idun (born 2012). I have also previously had a re-homed Siberian Husky, Teun, whom I acquired in 2006 at age 9½ years old and enjoyed almost exactly two years with before I took him to the veterinarian for his final appointment there as his declining health caught up with him.
In addition to taking care of my own dogs, I currently serve as a supplementary member of the specialty club responsible for among other breeds the American Akita within the Swedish Kennel Club. I also serve as secretary on the board of the Swedish breed club for the American Akita.
